A Message from the President of the HBA of Craven & Pamlico Counties
Congratulations go out to the Home Builder Association’s staff and Bill Pope the Build-PAC Committee Chair for a very successful auction held at the Eastern Carolina Yacht Club. Bill and the rest of the Board of Directors made a last minute telephone campaign and managed to solicit quite a few items from local business and association members for the auction . We earned over $3,000.00 from the silent and live auctions. Our goal of $2,540.00 is set by the State Association and the auction has definitely put us on track to meet this years goal. Please review the list of contributors published in this newsletter and be sure to thank them for their support for this very worthy cause. In poor economic times like these our State and National Associations need all the funds possible to fight for our industry.
In another related matter, thanks to Frank Crayton and the Governmental Affairs Committee for their time and efforts concerning the new proposed Craven County Water Ordinance. Several letters and emails were sent to the County Manager and County Commissioners explaining our concerns about many of the new proposals. We also made several recommendations for them to consider which will improve the ordinance and make it fairer to all concerned. I am pleased to announce that because of our concerns the Commissioners have delayed the final vote for at least 30 days. Good job Frank! This is your local association at it’s best working for it’s members.
Is everybody ready for GOLF? Don’t forget to register your teams by the deadline Tuesday, June 1st for our 30th Annual Home Builders Golf Tournament being held on Friday, June 4th. Mary Brinn and the association staff have been working hard with the Emerald Golf Club to bring you a great day of golf. There will be no regular association meeting in June because of the tournament. Hope to see you there and remember, keep your spirits up, things are getting better everyday in our industry.
